Cyber Security Awareness

Simple precautions that protect your money and your personal information from fraud.

The golden rules

  • The bank never asks for your PIN, password, OTP or card details — by phone, SMS, email or in person.
  • Never share an OTP with anyone, including persons claiming to be from the bank, the RBI or the police.
  • Do not click on links received in unsolicited SMS or WhatsApp messages claiming to be from the bank.
  • Verify any communication about your account by calling the branch directly on its published number.
  • Report a suspicious transaction or message to your branch immediately.

Common frauds to watch for

Phishing messages

Fake SMS or emails that imitate the bank and ask you to 'verify' or 'update' your account through a link.

OTP fraud

Callers posing as bank or government officials who ask you to read out an OTP — sharing it lets them debit your account.

Impersonation

Persons claiming to be RBI, income-tax or police officers demanding immediate payment or account details.

Fake job or prize offers

Offers that ask you to pay a 'fee' or share account details to receive a prize, loan or job.

If you suspect fraud

Contact your branch at once so that the account can be safeguarded. You may also report cyber fraud on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) or by calling the national helpline 1930.
